Cat Love
We love our cats more than ever, and in fact, sometimes treat them as children.
Our pets make us laugh, are entertaining, amusing and offer unconditional love.
What can we do to show our love and appreciation for them?
As we enter the New Year here are some suggestions:
Spend quality time with your pets—snuggle with them while watching TV,
play with them with their favorite toys, and feed your pets healthy foods intended for
their consumption. Remember, your cats depend on you to look after them.

Cat Scratch Fever
Cat Scratch Disease (CSD), formerly known as Cat Scratch Fever, is a rare infection in humans
caused by a recently identified organism of the Rickettsea family. Researchers think that the organism is present in both the catŐs blood and saliva. When an infected cat scratches a person, it transmits the disease from its claws, causing flu-like or more severe symptoms. A recent study implicates the cat flea as the main source of transmission. It causes a persistent, long-term bacteremia within the cat, while the cat remains asymptomatic. It is not until the cat scratches, bites or licks an open wound of an individual that the disease is a problem. Those persons most susceptible to the disease would be individuals whose immune system is compromised, including the very young and the very old. Currently, there is no good diagnostic test for people, and the test to determine the presence of the organism is not readily available. Should you have a possible infection contact both your medical doctor and your veterinarian.
